Rashmi Agarwal, HRStop.com - Automated HR services for startups & SMEs

Wednesday March 16, 2011 , 4 min Read

Rashmi Agarwal

Rashmi Agarwal is one of those people who turn towards entrepreneurship when they can’t find a suitable solution in the market for their problem. So when she couldn’t find a HR management tool for a company of about 9 people, she and her team decided to get one created. Today, her business idea, HRStop.com, is a full-fledged venture that has automated and simplified various HR activities like payroll management, leave management, applicant tracking, etc.We at YourStory caught up with Rashmi recently to know more about her entrepreneurial journey. If we asked you tell us about HR Stop in about three sentences, what would you say?

HRStop.com is a web-based hosted human resource management system that automates various HR activities and allows you to use standard HR services in the easiest, fastest and most secure way. Some of the services available are payroll, leave management, holiday management, employee self services, recruitment, applicant tracking, etc.

How is HR Stop different from other HR management systems?

We at Great Developers (the company behind HRStop) believe in simplifying the life of people by providing simple, easy-to-use solutions which are affordable. We are targeting startups and SMEs. We believe that our growth lies in the success of our clients. We would like to grow with them and hence, we have very affordable plans for startups and small companies.

Many other competitors say that their solutions are simple and quite affordable. But the truth is that the free plans are not good enough for a company with even 10 employees. The paid ones are quite expensive. So we have come up with HRStop.com and we are providing all these services for free so that a company of about 10 people can use it on a day-to-day basis. When they grow, they will upgrade their plans and that will be our measure of success

How did the idea for HR Stop come about?

The idea for HRStop.com struck us when we could not find a HR management system for ourselves when we had about 9 employees. The ones which were available for free were designed for companies which had 3-5 people only. The paid ones were out of our budget. So, we came up with this SaaS-based solution which has proved out to be a boon for startups and small companies.

Tell us about your background.

Most of us are from engineering backgrounds, with about 6-10 years of experience working with companies like Microsoft, Yahoo, Satyam, Naukri.com, Sapient, RBS, Citadel and IBM.

Have you done any formal marketing for HR Stop? How’s the journey been so far?

We haven’t started marketing it formally. We’ll do that by the end of March. We have been receiving great response from the existing users. It’s been about 3 months since we have launched the beta version and we have about 300 registered companies, out of which 30% of them are paid users.

Where do you see web-based HR systems and HR Stop five years from now?

With the features and services we are offering at HRStop.com, we think we will be one of the most preferred HR systems for SMEs and startups.

What is HR Stop's revenue model?

Simply put, our revenue model revolves around subscription to premium plans.

According to you, what are the happiest and most challenging aspects of entrepreneurship?

People appreciating our services, registering on the website and continuously using it brings immense satisfaction and pleasure to us. Developing the product in bootstrapping mode is a challenge.

How big is the HR Stop team? Are you hiring?

The HRStop.com team comprises of 5 development engineers, 2 testing engineers, 1 designer, 1 marketing executive and 3 support guys. We are hiring and anyone interested can apply at http://www.hrstop.com/Jobs/All

How do you plan to expand HR Stop’s market reach?

We plan to make the services available through APIs so that the system can be integrated and used by external systems. We also plan to provide out-of-the-box integration with common CRM, sales and invoicing systems. We will also make services available on mobile handsets and tablets.

We at YourStory wish Rashmi and HR Stop all the best with their expansion plans. To know more about HR Stop, check out http://hrstop.com/. Also, do let us know about your thoughts about this story. You can write to us at[email protected]
