Hong Kong is a global centre of trade and finance linking China and Asia to the outside world. As I embark on my journey to Hong Kong, I will be writing about the startup scene in Hong Kong through this series. Over the next 2 weeks as a YourStory.in representative I will be meeting entrepreneurs and investors, and attending startup related events in Hong Kong. I will be writing about some of the people and startups shaping the startup culture in this metropolis.

Hong Kong is one of the most app-crazed countries around the globe according to Google. Given its access to Chinese market, developers and startups in India looking to expand to China will be looking at Hong Kong as a base. This series should be able to increase our awareness of the startup ecosystem in Hong Kong.

Many startups from Hong Kong have got global recognition and coverage recently. Hong Kong based Awesome Ship was the winner of Startup Weekend Global Startup Battle. Xerafy Ltd, a Hong Kong based provider of rugged passive RFID tags, has won the Red Herring Global Top 100 Technology startup award as one of the top private companies from North America, Europe, and Asia.

I will be Hong Kong to attend the MaD Asia Forum which promises to be a forum to meet leading social and creative entrepreneurs from Asia.

I hope to attend Startup Monday Hong Kong meetup and a session called “storytelling talk” (Could not have asked for a better title – we are all about telling the stories of startups!)

So watch this space and I hope to introduce some cool startups to our readers through this series.
