E-commerce businesses have witnessed great momentum over the last few years. The industry is flushed with investments, high valuations, interesting innovations and entrepreneurial ventures, all aiming to entice the customer into trying and subsequently adopting a virtual experience. Another brave heart trying his hand at eCommerce, is Rohit Jain -- a marketing postgraduate from Nottingham University, who forayed into the space to add color to area of kitchen appliances.

Magic

His venture Magickart.in, is targeting women who like experimenting with contemporary kitchen ware designs and range. “We offer our customers access to over 5000 products across 50 trusted brands at the best price. The portal showcases exclusive and varied collection of national and international kitchenware brands that include Butterfly, Prestige, Wonderchef, Philips, and Hawkins among others” says Rohit. The key categories sold on the site are kitchenware, cookware, bar accessories, baking vessels, food storage containers, kitchen tools, knifes and the dining range.

Though the portal faces stiff competition from other websites like Zansaar.com, Fabfurnish.com, Goodlife.com, Homeshop18.com, what makes Magickart different is the wide range of products, niche segmentation, personalized attention to customer requests, easy assistance and a 360° customer satisfaction approach backed by warranty/guarantee from the suppliers. “The pricing of our products has always been customer friendly, and we never change the MRP of the products. Continuous efforts are made to keep the customer updated about new promotions with luring discounts,” explains Rohit.

“Quality is a very subjective concept with different criteria of benchmarking,” says Rohit. At Magickart, only those products are included where brands offer customer service setup or service is out sourced to some third party. All products are inspected and checked for damages, expiry and if they are according to customer specifications before they are packed and shipped. In case a customer has received a wrong specification or a customer wishes to exchange a particular product, a 100% exchange guarantee is offered.

Google ad-words, retargeting along with SEO, online marketing, Facebook advertising and promotional mails are the usual ones used to market the product. Recently the portal conducted an online recipe contest for its Facebook fans where participants had to submit a recipe which can be made in 10-12 min. 85 responses were received and the winners were felicitated by a local chef at a small function. The team at Magickart continuously innovates on methods to engage customers by way of opinion polls, live chats and helpline services through which they give them tips to improve their home and kitchen.

A self-funded venture, Magickart is looking for funds to expand their operations. “We plan to increase our products listings to 15,000 products by the year end. Our aim is to bring for the Indian market, brands which are big internationally,” says Rohit. Entering more markets and diversification is also on cards.
