Challenges to achieving supply chain efficiencies
In this quick telephonic interview, on a Saturday evening, DarshanSatghar, Head – eCommerce, Sahara Q Shop, answers a few questions about the patterns he sees in buying, the efficiencies that he is attempting in the supply chain, and also shares his views about the industry. “Access to the Internet in the country is only 12% and only half of them use social networking. And, ultimately, only 2% buy. Even in this 2% there are travel, matrimony, and jobs, followed by products,” says Darshan. “Look at the consumption pattern. For IT products, the purchase is once in 2-3years; for apparel, 2-3 times a year; consumer durables, once in 3 years; but grocery, every month, that is, 12 times a year. Though the margin is not much, business is more,” he adds (19:30).
