The Centre would take initiative for revival of the ailing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units in Odisha with a focus on developing downstream industries, Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra said.

In order to ensure successful implementation of the Centre's plans, all steps would be taken to rejuvenate the MSME sector in Odisha after discussions with the Chief Minister and others, Mishra said during a brief visit.

Discussion in this regard would also be held with the state's industries minister, officials and industry leaders during his next visit to the state, he said at the state BJP office.

The Centre, he said, would provide all cooperation and assistance for proper training and development of human resources in the state when BJP leaders apprised him of the industrial scenario in Odisha and the need to revive the sick units and make the MSME sector vibrant.

The Union Minister, who also attended a seminar on "Ancillary, downstream and cluster development", said the MSME sector can grow considerably through development of downstream units by using by-products of large industries.

A large number of MSME units can come up in different parts of the country through cluster development and use of modern technologies, Mishra said.
