• Southern Railway is going to provide 455 automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs) in 191 stations for suburban rail commuters. The facility will service approximately 9 lakh people, and is expected to be scaled up to service a larger swath of commuters. 
• The Madhya Pradesh government requested that the Planning Commission provide Rs. 24,000 crore in relief aid to address the drought in the Bundelkhand region.
• As part of the National Security Language Initiative, Hindi instructors are being recruited for schools in the United States. Currently, instructors are being recruited from kindergarten to the university level.
• Former President A P J Abdul Kalam recently recommended that Indian Members of Parliament (MPs) undergo intensive management training in order to enable them to more effectively function as state functionaries within a rapidly changing global context.
• The Agriculture Ministries of New Zealand and India are preparing to partner up for the “exchange of technology and research in the agriculture sector.” The proposed Memorandum of Understanding aims to also strength bilateral trade between the two nations.
