Participate in Marketing "Mantra" for Techno-entrepreneurs at IITB

Wednesday January 07, 2009 , 3 min Read

Introduction

An increasing number of young and

ambitious people have been keenly exploring the possibility of Technology

Entrepreneurship. There are many efforts to encourage this trend, notably

by the National Entrepreneurship Network (NeN) run by Wadhwani foundation,

and by the Department of Science and Technology through its active support

for setting up Technology incubators.

The young people involved in

these start-ups have a fair idea of the technology involved. They are also

quick to learn the basics of building a company from scratch, making and

altering business plans, estimating cash flows, engagement with VCs, etc.

However, one weakness which has come out time and again is that these start-ups are very weak in understanding the importance of marketing.

Even

those who learn the basics are often unable to apply these to the

situation of a start-up, where the product or service itself is at best in

some beta version, and the company has no established credibility in the

market.

Course Content

This workshop is being organized

to address this special need. The workshop will briefly elaborate on the

basics of marketing on the first day, and will subsequently address

specific issues, which are of prime concern to young technology start-ups,

so as to help them decide the right marketing approach and

strategy.

Duration and

Venue

The workshop duration is two-and-a-half days. The first

two days will have lectures and interactive sessions, followed by a panel

discussion on the third day.
