EDP programme on food processing

A twelve days training programme on ‘entrepreneurship development programme on food processing’ is organized at National Research Centre on Mithun, Jharnapani. A total of 40 SHG members from Sovima, Malvom, Medziphema, Diphupar villages of Dimapur district, Nagaland and NGOs staff (Nandi foundation) and state govt. officials are attended the programme.

The Training programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest, S. Doungel A.D.C Medziphema after igniting the lamp at conference hall of NRC-M. Dr. Anamika Sharma programme coordinator, appealed the participants that a large number of technologies were available for farmers, to take a shift from subsistence farming to commercial and economically viable agriculture.

Dr. B.P. Bhatt, Guest of honour, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, Dr. C. Rajkhowa, Chairman and Director, NRC-M also spoke at the occasion. The different aspects are covered: Scope of food processing industry, entrepreneurship motivation, Business opportunities available in food processing, book keeping and accountancy, project report preparation for micro and small enterprises, financial institutions and their schemes, market survey, market survey tools, market perceptions, Market intelligence, Fruits and vegetable processing, packaging, economics of produce, machinery for processing, approach and planning for setting up of Small Scale industry, Food Laws and standards. Participants visit Nagaland fruits and vegetable processing unit. Resource persons include officials from department of Agri Extension, IARI, New Delhi, ICAR Research Complex, Nagaland Centre, Naga Fragrance Limited, NRC-M, Jharnapani, Regional Office, NABARD, Dimapur, School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development, Medziphema, NU, and department of Industry, Government of Nagaland.

The training is organized by KVK, Phek (NRC-M) and KVK, Dimapur (ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Jharnapani), sponsored by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi.
