“GOOGLE” is profoundly world’s best search engine. It’s mission is to organise data and to make it universally accessible. So, what are the other platforms excluding its renowned search engine Google has for us?
Google Code University is an online platform for the CS students and professors to learn and share the current computing technologies and prototypes. It encourages the best around the globe to share information about the cutting edge technologies and latest technological reforms in the CS sector. Learning resources include tutorials, online lectures, presentations and problem sets from varied topics like:
* AJAX programming
* Algorithms
* Distributed systems
* Web security
* Languages
It also provides the students an insight into the industrial practices. Recipients can modify the information uploaded to suit their curriculum requirements.
Let me highlight few features and resources available in Google Code University.
AJAX: An acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. It helps one to develop interactive web interfaces and a major advantage is that one needn’t wait for the entire web page to be screened if data is modified. As the name suggests it asynchronously updates the web site with the information from time to time in the server. The tutorials provide all the knowledge required to use GOOGLE’s AJAX and map API’s. The course content is contributed by University of Washington and Viterbi School of Engineering about WWW(World Wide Web) and Web programming respectively. The course content also includes lectures pertaining to the topics- Web 2.0 by web guild and creating tools for AJAX development by Adam Peller software engineer from IBM software group.
It also provides course content regarding algorithms which form the core of computer science and also provides problem sets for better understanding and practice.
ANDROID programming is a software stack for mobile devices. The course content in this field is contributed by North Carolina State University. It introduces us to real time operating systems, real time design, sensor networks etc.
Similarly one can get educated about different languages(also the one’s listed)forerunning the computing world by searching for the course materials, lectures, presentations etc. using the CS “curriculum search”.
Thus, Google through this innovative, interactive and yet educative platform integrates technocrats, students and educators by providing the accessibility to knowledge in a ‘click’.
