YourStory invites you to the World Entrepreneurship Day celebrations in Bangalore on 16th April

World Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is 24 hour world-wide celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation (taking place on April 16th, 2010.) The mission of WED is to infuse entrepreneurial optimism into the world when it needs it the most! We will remind everyone that it is entrepreneurs who have consistently led sluggish economies back to prosperity and growth through innovation and job creation.
YourStory and IBF Media are celebrating WED through an event at Jaaga in Bangalore. We will have speakers from diverse backgrounds sharing their thoughts on entrepreneurship and innovation. We invite people interested in this theme to join so and celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship with us.

Speaker Bios:
Amit Singh is very passionate about entrepreneurship and promoting it. He has started two entrepreneurial ventures in the past. He has co-founded HeadStart Network and takes care of its Bangalore operations. In the past he has been a part of the core team that organized 5 Barcamps in Bangalore in the years 2007-2008.
Sagar Gubbi is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Ecoforge Advisors Pvt Ltd, which is a Bangalore-based investment advisory and strategy consulting firm focused on the renewable energy and green business sectors in India. Sagar has a background renewable energy and carbon finance, in addition to strategy consulting in renewable energy sector as well as technology and social development. He advises both foreign and Indian investors on equity/debt/carbon investment deals in the Indian renewable energy sector. He also advises Indian renewable energy project developers to raise capital from both Indian and foreign sources.
He previously worked in Robert Bosch, a German automotive engineering company, in Germany and India. Later, Sagar joined Unitus, a Seattle-based Microfinance investment and consulting organization, where he worked on urban poor livelihoods projects in Bangalore, India. Recently, he has been working as a Consultant for the GSM Association's Green Power for Mobile Programme in London, wherein he has developed business models to provide renewable energy to off-grid communities in the developing world through mobile telecom infrastructure. Sagar regularly participates in conferences and online discussions on social entrepreneurship and used to maintain a popular blog on SocialEdge.Org (a website of California-based Skoll Foundation) focusing on Social Entrepreneurship in India. He has also been a guest writer for Washington DC-based World Resources Institute/NextBillion.Net, and Atlanta-based magazine, Green Edison.
Sagar has an MBA with distinction from the University of Oxford's Said Business School in the UK.
Jyoti Ramnath is the founder of CraftMyGift (www.CraftMyGift.com), a company specializing in creative and unique gifts in India. While at the idea stage, CraftMyGift won the best business plan award at MPWE (IIM-B) in 2007. A first generation entrepreneur, Jyoti has been able to take CraftMyGift from a new experimental concept to a fully functional business.
Jyoti has been featured in the book “Inspiring Women to Start Innovative Enterprises” by Sria Majumdar. Recently Jyoti was also selected as one of the 100 Most inspiring young entrepreneur fellow across Asia Pacific by FYSE (Foundation for Youth and Social Entrepreneurs). Jyoti is extremely passionate about Entrepreneurship and regularly addresses aspiring entrepreneurs on this challenging journey. She is also the co-Founder of Headstart Network(www.headstart.in), a not-for-profit organization promoting innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem in India and conducts monthly events called “Startup Saturday“ in Bangalore.
Krishna is the founding member and Principal at Longhouse Consulting, an Executive Search firm which has a strong focus on the Indian startup ecosystem. He is also the Founder and Chairman at Sattva Media and Consulting, an enterprise focused on the development sector of India.
Krishna currently serves on the Board of Dream a Dream, an NGO, and is the Founder of "Version One Dot Oh!", an amateur theatre group which has produced over 60 shows since 2004. Krishna holds a B.E(Hons) in Computer Science from BITS, Pilani and an M.B.A from INSEAD, focused on entrepreneurship.

Namrata Shah has done a 4 yr Dip. in Textile Design from Srishti school of Art, Design and Technology. Her work experience includes working at Prabartana Ltd, Bangladesh, Reliance Retail, Chamundi Silk Exports and Silk EOU, Silktex Ltd.She has been a visiting faculty to the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology on the subject of woven textile design, Apparel and Furnishings.
She runs a design studio specializing in hand-crafted fabrics (stoles and sarees)which are showcased and retailed at Cinnamon Bglr, Fabindia Melange, Zoya Mumbai under the brand ‘2 up2 down’, as well as exporting to the European market through a brand ‘VIA Design’.
She collaborated with an UK based NGO ‘The Bridge Foundation’ (TBF), to develop stoles in Eri silk for exports from Cocoon to fabric stage.She was recently awarded ‘Young fashion entrepreneur Award 2010’ India by British council, with a trip sponsored to the UK
Alban Leveau-Vallier and Olivier Cohen - de Timary are part of Socialter. Socialter is a French association that promotes efficient use of social media by changemakers.
Founded in 2009 by three French students, the association is completing a world tour of changemakers (Social Business, NGOs, associations, local initiatives). The purpose of this world tour is a study of (i) best practices and (ii) the needs of changemakers regarding their use of social media.
The purpose is to allow greater dissemination of social innovations (the “good ideas”) in order to ensure that these good ideas are reproduced.
