Social Entrepreneurship Competition - Techfest, IIT Bombay

To promote new and innovative ideas of youths so as to give them ground for how they want to contribute to society. Thus Techfest, IIT Bombay is promoting such youths who has a strong will to do something for society and remove a certain problem who is plaguing society.

Techfest, IIT Bombay is looking for mentors who can guide the young participants. It is the experience and expertise of a mentor that would guide him to work on his idea and convert it from a mere idea to a solution in reality. The mentorship would start from September 10th and will continue till the culmination of Techfest (January 7- 9, 2011).

Techfest, IIT Bombay request the mentor to provide the following:

  • Regular updates (preferably biweekly) from the mentee regarding his work progress via telephone, messaging, mails or meetings
  • Providing advice on planning, marketing, financial systems, funding/finance sources, managing people, networking and other issues
  • Help him deal with specific issues and problems as they arise
  • Make him aware of current scenario in the respective field
  • Help in collecting statistical data related to the idea
  • Keep the participant motivated for this cause

Techfest, IIT Bombay is looking from mentor to help candidates through the process of designing and launching their ventures, providing guidance, how-to’s, and a process for designing and pitching a venture idea. These are some example problems:

Each and every child with age less than 14 years of age should get education, but it is not followed, we want to design some changes or ways which will attract each child to attend school. Mentors can help in finding and collecting data, Things that are going on, Thus he will get the direction to work.

Also Techfest, IIT Bombay will look for the solutions like teaching or developing skills in labour to make them more efficient in there work. Like if someone wants to train some people to make them work and get good amount of money in field Techfest, IIT Bombay will entertain him.

Techfest, IIT Bombay is also expecting solutions of, "So many colleges, but only small amount of jobs". The level of teaching and courses offered are much more in India than some other countries, though Indians daily income are much lesser.

Techfest, IIT Bombay is also looking at solutions like Introducing slum education day in every international school in which children from schools like dhirubai ambani school will teach one some slum kids.
