“Fashion launch pad”
The fashion industry is a multibillion dollar sector, but getting a piece of the pie is easier said than done. The breaks come only to those with talent and even then they are few and far between. The number of individuals who enter the fray are quite substantial, but the fashion houses cannot take them all. However Tamás Locher is willing to give them all a shot at the limelight. This Austrian Entrepreneur’s venture Garmz.com is aimed at providing a launch pad to the young and the gifted fashion novice.
How does Garmz.com help those looking for a break in the fashion industry?
Garmz is a stage for upcoming fashion designers to show and feedback their designs to a worldwide audience. Garmz then produces the best of these designs and sells them through its web shop and B2B sales channels.
The vision behind Garmz is to become an ecosystem where products of future fashion trends can emerge easier and faster than in the common fashion industry.
You design fashion, we do the rest. Garmz - enables fashion talent.
What do you believe is the potential in your venture and its services?
We launched our PR-release 1 month ago and received design submissions from all continents so far.
We believe that there are a lot of talented people out there who will substantially benefit out of our service as well as customers who will have an easy access to the universe of individual fashion to affordable price.
In fact we lower the entry barriers into the fashion industry to the absolute minimum. With Garmz.com everybody can start its own fashion label and use our resources and purchasing power on the supply side to offer them to affordable prices, worldwide.
How does your business model leverage fashion into profits?
Let`s assume the model is working. In this case Garmz.com has the unprecedented chance to be basically the source where fashion trends emerge from the earliest possible state. We believe that trends come from individuals, not corporations. Garmz will have the chance to commercialize fashion trends from the very beginning and escort them through their product life cycle. Profit shared with the most valuable actors of the whole process, the designers. We will also make money with other revenue streams that are in the pipe and will be tested once on the market.
Why do you choose to be an entrepreneur over other careers?
Once you start to do your own thing you do not ask yourself this question anymore. The work of an entrepreneur is probably the most fulfilling job on earth.
To work on a vision and get affirmation along the way is very fulfilling. So in fact this ‘rollercoaster’ that many people try to avoid is for me rather fun and really the most satisfying thing on earth.
What has been the clinching factor in getting your business launched?
In the beginning it was pretty hard to get people involved into the project. As of today this is much easier and we can handpick the people who fit into the team.
It also took us significant efforts to win investors for the company. It is very hard to sell disruptive business models that did not prove yet.
Has your company got any angel investors?
We closed an international angel round of Swiss, German, Austrian and Russian investors. So Garmz is a true Pan-European initiative.
What vision do you hope to fulfill in the coming 2 years?
The company will have branches in UK and US and hopefully very close to make its first move also to India.
I will foster to get in exceptional people in all relevant fields for the company such as technical development, fashion competency, logistics and production controlling.
In financial matters I believe that Garmz.com will make substantial turnover and will have reached break even.
What is your philosophy on entrepreneurship?
Just do it. Listen very carefully to customers but do not listen to doubters who are not out of your business.
What must an entrepreneur take upon themselves to ensure success?
To get attention and to get to those people who can help to grow the business faster.
