Collaboration for Social Transformers 2010

Social Transformers are individuals who are supported and funded by VIT University’s Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Development [CSED] to run their projects that have a social impact with a mission to put technology and knowledge to work, to solve critical social problems. It happens during graVITas, tech fest of VIT University which hosts 'Social Transformers' to bring together best young minds to put their ideas to work in society. CSED facilitates and guides these groups to execute the projects.

With the grand success of Social Transformers’09 which was conducted with the help of RIT(USA), CSED has opened up the application process for Social Transformers 2010 which is going to happen from 17th to 19th September 2010 at VIT University, Vellore Campus. The best 20 teams would present their project ideas in front of the jury which would include esteemed personalities from various backgrounds relevant to the competition.

This year four specific themes have been chosen keeping in mind the global challenges we face today. They are:

  • Renewable Energy
  • Water for all
  • Poverty alleviation
  • Waste management

Entries are invited from student teams in any one of the themes before 15th August. The applications need to be in the format provided at http://www.gravitas2010.co.cc/content/social-transformers. Indicate your interest by sending an email to [email protected]. There is no fee for application submission.

The projects have to be unique and not an existing model. It should be practical and economically viable with the promise of a positive impact.
