Villgro to host Young Innovator Programme

Many powerful ideas and innovations have grown out of college campuses. Recognizing this Villgro Innovations Foundation (Villgro), the leading social enterprise incubator is conducting the Young Innovator Programme that brings together over 150 student innovators from more than 60 colleges from across India to present their innovations.
The venue is the Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research (IC & SR) building in IIT Madras.
As a business incubator, Villgro has worked for several years to grow innovation; particularly technology innovation with the potential to improve the lives of India’s vast rural population.
The Young Innovator Programme which comprises of the My Idea Programme and the Student project funding programme looks at indentifying and recognizing student innovators who have the potential to transform rural India through innovation.
Villgro associates with leading educational institutions to conduct the My Idea Program and the Student Project Funding program that serves to unearth innovations and serve as a platform of recognition to encourage student innovators. The My Idea Program Level 1 and Student project funding is an intra college competition that has been conducted by independent colleges across India with the support of Villgro. The winners from MIP Level 1 take part in the My Idea program level 2 which is a 2 day event. The Students have a capacity building session on the 18th of March 2011 to help them in their innovation journey. The finalists make a presentation to the jury members comprising of experts on 19th.of March 2011.
The winners of the My Idea Program are awarded cash prizes and are recognized in front of a distinguished audience at Unconvention – Villgro’s Social Entrepreneurship ecosystem event that happens in December every year.
The winners also get an opportunity to be part of the high-profile National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) conference in USA.
