Indian Institute for Human Settlements hosts “Re-Imagining the World-Class City” in Bangalore from 14th - 18th June

Following the success of the Institute in January 2011, IIHS re-announces a 5-day Short-Course on Re-Imagining the ‘WorldClass’ City. Bringing together an inter-disciplinary Indian and international faculty of academics and practitioners, the shortcourse will enable participants to engage with the political, economic, ecological, infrastructural, social and institutional challenges of the ‘World-Class’ City. Through an engagement with real sites and problems, participants will re-imagine what globalising Indian cities and regions could develop into over the next decade and ask what it will take to get there. Faculty at the institute includes Amlanjyoti Goswami, Aromar Revi, Gautam Bhan, H. S. Sudhira, Jessica Seddon, Kavita Wankhade, Mohan Rao, Sanjay Prakash, Smita Srinivas , Somnath Sen, Peter Head.Participants from all disciplines can apply. Preference will be given to applicants from technology, planning, design, management, law, social sciences and environmental sciences. Applicants should either be pursuing or have completed Bachelors or Masters degrees or be professionals with relevant work experience.
