Notes from IndiaCamp, an open space (un)conference around all topics of India held in Austria
Last Saturday, 30th of April, nearly 80 experts on India came together at HUB Vienna/Austria, a co-working space for Social Entrepreneurs, to attend the world's first IndiaCamp, an open space (un)conference around all topics of India. The event was hosted by YourStory's international media partner “Indische Wirtschaft” (http://indische-wirtschaft.de/), the leading blog on doing business in India for the German speaking market. The event was hosted as a “BarCamp”, a user-generated conference (or unconference). These events are facilitated, participant-driven conferences and conceptualised as an open, participatory workshop-event, whose content is provided by its participants.
At this particular IndiaCamp twenty sessions (presentations, workshops, discussions) were held during the entire day, covering topics from the Indian market and (social) entrepreneurship to media, urban lifestyle, Bollywood to politics and social development as well as on intercultural challenges.
The main goal of the event was free sharing knowledge, information and experience about India, networking, understanding and inspiration. IndiaCamp fasciliate to connect Europeans and Indians, academic and business, students and professionals and inspire change makers and (social) entrepreneurs. Some of the participants came even from Germany and Denmark to attend the event. The team behind the event as well as many participants are still smitten by the fascinating talks and great people they have met. The positive feedback encourages the organisers Wolfgang Bergthaler and Stefan Mey to plan for the next IndiaCamp very soon.
