We are unable to conceal our excitement. As we have stacked up an exciting evening, we are eager to step in for our first ever event in Chennai. The city hosts a lot of startup events and is touted to become an innovative startup hub for the whole country. We are making our first start with TechSparks 2011 Regional RoundTable. For details see www.techsparks.in and for agenda for the Chennai RoundTable, see here.
The agenda is to bring real-time, valuable lessons to technology entrepreneurs, especially startup entrepreneurs. As human species, we learn a lot from others who have been there, done that. There are entrepreneurs who have started small and made it big. What differentiates them from the not-so-successful ones? Maybe their propensity towards risk and their ability to read the customer mind better. They will tell the audience what worked and what did not. Join Murugavel Janakiraman as he would espouse his story on building India’s premium matrimony site BharatMatrimony. That’s the big story as the keynote.
Then we have a few more experiences that are to be shared along with a panel discussion on go-to-market strategies. A product that sells well should have a strong customer base. How to identify that customer segment that will buy your product or service? What have entrepreneurs done to capture their customers’ imagination? Suresh Sambandam, Founder, OrangeScape, and Badri Seshadri, Founder, New Horizon Media after founding cricinfo.com, the premier cricket portal now owned by ESPN, will provide the entrepreneurial perspective while Aakash Goel from Sequoia would be pronouncing what worked for his portfolio companies. Vimalraj from IBM will share the corporate viewpoint on go-to-market.
It is an honour that Prof. M.S. Ananth, Director, IIT-Madras, has graciously agreed to inaugurate the Regional RoundTable and Prof. R. Nagarajan and Prof. L.S. Ganesh would explain in brief what IIT-M is doing to foster innovation and entrepreneurship through its centres CFI, C-TIDES, and CSIE. What more inspires to start than with Prof. Ananth, who has made the IIT-M Research Park a reality? Taking a cue from this, you can build something big from India and only your mind should be your constraint.
