TiE Chennai Entrepreneur Awards ceremony on November 24th

Chennai - TiE Chennai today announced that the state’s most prestigious award for entrepreneurs ‘TiE Chennai Entrepreneur Awards’, will be presented at TiECON CHENNAI 2011, to be held on November 24, 2011 at the Chennai Convention Center. In its fourth year, the award programme recognizes and rewards successful entrepreneurs and business leaders who embody the spirit and qualities required to succeed in business and who are emerging to become inspirational role models for the next generation of Indian entrepreneurs. This year, the awards include two new categories, ‘Young Entrepreneur of the year’ and ‘Startup of the year’, in addition to eight other categories such as Dronacharya, Lifetime Achievement award and Entrepreneur of the year award.An eminent jury panel under the leadership of Mr. Sundaradevan, Industries Secretary, Govt of Tamilnadu and including past winners (of the TiE Chennai awards) will evaluate shortlist and choose the winners for the various categories this year. The evaluation is based on a mix of multiple parameters including long term business strategy, profitability of the company, return on investment and growth, leadership, culture and values, and social impact among others. The awards will be presented to the winners at a gala awards ceremony at TiECON Chennai in the presence of an audience of more than 1500 entrepreneurs, corporate professionals, policy makers and business leaders.

Over the last few years, TiE Chennai has been playing a vital role in nurturing and developing the entrepreneur ecosystem and the awards is one among its several initiatives. In alignment with our new initiative to accelerate innovation among entrepreneurs in the region, we will recognize entrepreneurial success across categories. We are glad to receive an increased number of entries for the awards this year. Our eminent jury has already begun to shortlist the nominations and considering both the quantity and quality of entries this year, their job is not going to be easy”.

Past awardees of TiE Chennai Entrepreneur Awards include eminent business leaders like Mr. N Shankar of Sanmar Group, Mr. N. Srinivasan of India Cements, Mr. M.V. Subbiah of Murugappa Group, Dr. P.C. Reddy of Apollo Hospitals, Ms. Hemu Ramaiah, Ms. Kami Narayan.
