In this context, we caught up with entrepreneur and founder of SocialAppsHQ, Rajat Garg, to know more about the app.
Rajat, what led you to create SocialAppsHQ's e-commerce tab?
eCommerce and hospitality are few industries that are truly set to change due to social media over next few years. Both major online sectors are driven traditionally by word of mouth / peer to peer marketing. This, in the age of social media marketing, has been put on steroids by platforms like Facebook and Twitter. ‘Share’ and ‘Re-tweet’ are now more important than a customer testimonial and can be instrumental in driving referral sales. In fact, SocialAppsHQ has seen 10% uplift in sales for clients that encourage users to post on their wall.
How many e-commerce sites are already using the app?
We already have three e-commerce sites using our Facebook app. Electronic Bazaar, Wellness well, Kids Zone.
How does the set up work?
One can simply login to SocialAppsHQ and upload the product, images and all other details through an easy to use interface. It should take less than 5 minutes!
Can the users make a purchase on Facebook itself, or does the app take you to the main site for shipping?
It takes you to main website for now.
There are a few other companies that do similar things, how are you different from them?
There is lot of noise as app developers come and go. There are few major players like Payvment, but they only focus on providing an eCommerce app. We believe that effective social media marketing of your online store requires more than just a Facebook store. You require ability to show coupons, run contests, sweepstake etc. SocialAppsHQ provides the largest social media marketing platform that enables store owners to run all their initiatives from a single place.
How does the revenue model work?
It’s a flat fee of INR 1,500 per month. You can upload unlimited number of products and have any number of fans and interactions.
Are you planning to go mobile anytime soon with the apps?
This is in works, we are hoping to launch our first mobile version in next couple of months.
What do you think are the challenges that online retail stores currently face? How to overcome these challenges?
On a global basis, major challenges are in creating technology infrastructure that can scale to various devices like mobile, tablets and incorporate social and local elements to satisfy the growing expectations. In India, logistic challenges add to the headache! For now, we hope to solve the technical challenges by enabling retailers to create presence on social channels and various devices seamlessly.
How has it been acquiring the first few customers?
E-Sparks provided a great platform for launching our E-commerce app. We are having several initial discussions and they should close in coming months!
If you are an e-commerce business, then do leverage SocialAppsHQ’s e-commerce tab!
