Based on Q2 2011 app downloads in the US this infographic helps us understand the popularity of apps across platforms. Games are clearly the most popular category. It is a bit surprising to see weather apps beat social networking apps. When it comes of distribution of apps across platforms Apple comes across as a clear winner. Another interesting finding the data throws up is while 93% of app downloaders are willing to pay for game apps only 76% want to pay for news apps. Game app developers can stay assured of returns!
