Zomato.com moves into online ticketing with New Year Eve’s tickets!

Zomato.com

Going live with over 175,000 tickets for NYEZomato.com, India’s biggest online food and lifestyle guide, which recently added Events to its repertoire, has now forayed into online ticketing for its Events section starting with New Year’s Eve Parties. This marks Zomato.com’s move into the rapidly booming Indian e-commerce space. The recently launched Zomato.com Events section, which lists over 500 upcoming events across Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune, is going live with over 175,000 tickets for New Year’s Eve parties. Translating to over INR 40 Cr of ticket inventory online, this is the first time NYE ticketing will be done on such a large scale by any portal in India.

Zomato.com caters to over 2 million visitors every month through its restaurant guide and it plans to cross-sell tickets to its own audience to keep customer acquisition costs low. Since this is the first time Zomato.com has forayed into ticketing, Zomato has decided not to levy a convenience charge to its customers unlike other popular ticketing portals. Tickets will be available for more than 30 venues in each of the four cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. All tickets will be open to users for purchase from the 13th of December onwards via a dedicated link – http//zomato.com/newyear.

Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO, Zomato.com said, “Our Events section, which was launched a couple of months back, has received a great response for the user experience and depth of content. As a next step, it makes a lot of sense to introduce an online ticketing layer on top of our discovery platform. This is our first move into the online ticketing space and we are starting it off with New Year’s Eve parties in a big way with a huge inventory. I’m confident that this move will be very well received like all our offerings have been so far!”

Zomato is now 3 years old and gets more than 20 Lakh monthly users across 10 cities in India – Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chandigarh. Zomato raised its second round of investment of 13.5Cr in September from Info Edge, one of the largest Internet companies in India.
