Opens office in Ahmedabad to address the growing demand for cloud based solutionsMumbai, India – February 13, 2012: VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, today announced the opening of its office in Ahmedabad to tap the growing demand for virtualization and cloud computing based solutions from the region. VMware has already signed on a significant number of customers in the region and expects to grow this number with a formal presence in Gujarat.

“The opening of our office in Ahmedabad not only extends our local presence in Gujarat, but also demonstrates our commitment to our customers and partners in the region,” said T Srinivasan, Managing Director, VMware India and SAARC. “We see a huge opportunity for our cloud solutions as we believe that organizations in the State of Gujarat are increasingly looking at IT to be more flexible and responsive to their dynamic business needs, while improving efficiency and controlling costs.”

VMware will address the cloud requirements of large corporations across manufacturing, BFSI, education, healthcare, auto, mining and pharmaceutical sectors in Gujarat. VMware also sees an exciting opportunity with the fast emerging small and medium businesses, as well with the State Government.

VMware already has a strong presence across India with offices in Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Cloud Computing in Asia Pacific: The Annual Cloud Maturity Index, a VMware commissioned survey conducted by Forrester Consulting in the region in October last year, revealed that 91% of organizations surveyed in India consider cloud relevant to their businesses. India leads the region in terms of perceived cloud relevance alongside Japan, China, Malaysia and Thailand at 90%. The study found that Indian companies are accelerating their adoption of cloud computing, with 77% indicating that they would do so in the next six to 18 months.
