LinkedIn’s iPad App: Professional Panache

Having already launched mobile applications for Blackberry, iPhone and Android devices long back, LinkedIn finally obliged to the need of a large number of iPad users with its latest Ipad App. With a sleek layout, the app is nothing less than what one would expect. The main screen of the app has a neat interface with only three options: updates, profile and inbox. The updates section of the app streams updates from people in one’s connections on LinkedIn, including updates like who’s changed jobs and who’s viewed your LinkedIn profile. News stories that the connections are sharing and the latest discussions from the groups people are members of can also be accessed from there. The users can also access their profile and send and receive message and invitations. The calendar widget, the main feature, is on the left side of the screen. It integrates the Ipad calendar assisting you in properly synchronizing your appointments. Another feature, definitely a plus point is that of the LinkedIn profiles displayed on the side of the people you are going to meet with (at your appointments).

Jeff Weiner, CEO LinkedIn, had said in August 2011 that “the company is doubling down on its mobile strategy , so it is really important to have more ways for mobile users to connect with their network”.

At LinkedIn, our focus continues to be on increasing the productivity of our members. We realize that today’s professional workforce is a mobile workforce. Hence, we constantly strive to provide them with simple solutions to achieve success and deliver a seamless LinkedIn experience everywhere. Through LinkedIn’s iPad experience we will deliver another simple yet dynamic experience to assist professionals on the go,” says Hari V. Krishnan, Country Manager, LinkedIn India.

Moreover, LinkedIn says that it has more than 150 million members worldwide and over 14 million in India. Adding to these statistics is the fact that 22% of global LinkedIn traffic comes from mobile devices.

The LinkedIn iPad app is now live in the App Store. There's also an update for the iPhone and Android app that adds the calendar integration. For the time being the app is only available in English language but it will launch in other languages soon. Download it from the app store here.
