Takeaways from Social Entrepreneurship Summit, Bangalore

Takeaways from Social Entrepreneurship Summit, Bangalore

Tuesday July 03, 2012 , 2 min Read

With an aim to educate the next generation of leaders and develop the knowledge and frameworks that can enable entrepreneurs to move forward and create a social impact, the Social Entrepreneurship Summit took place in Bangalore on 28th June, 2012.

Mr Ramesh Ramanathan, co-founder of Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, a non-profit organization focused on improving urban governance in India, presided over the event. Ramesh has worked closely with government on urban issues in a pro-bono capacity; hence his insights into the socio-entrepreneurship segment were lauded. The event also had the backing of the Rotary Club of Bangalore and Janalakshmi Social Services.

Jeff Slayter & Kane Minkus of the Industry Rockstar System gave a presentation on how they go about creating a lasting impact on the society and assisting everyone who comes in touch with them. Dr John De Martini, the Lead Actor of the movie The Secret presided over the event and went about describing how his father had gone about instilling seeds of entrepreneurship in him. He also concisely described the De Martini method, a breakthrough discovery and cutting edge personal transformation methodology which results in a new perspective and paradigm in thinking and feeling. The event was attended by a crowd interested in creating a social impact as well as in assisting others who are planning to do so.

Jeff & Kane highlighted an important point pertaining to Indian entrepreneurs, “Indians are highly talented but where they lack a bit is the selling part. The brilliant products created by them are not effectively marketed and sold. There are more millionaires today than they have been at any time in the History, this is the testimony of the fact that today if you are ready to invest in yourself and have an internet connection, you can startup and succeed from any place on the earth.

YVS Vinod, Director, Future Competency, the organizer of this event said, “We at Future Competency are taking this crusade to alleviate social and economic issues in our country. These experts are here and with their expertise and connections in the international business communities, they aim to share practices and information to support and implement their ideas.

We at YourStory are glad to be a part of such an event and look forward to contribute our bit on the socio-entrepreneurship front.
