The imperative to bring the social change through entrepreneurship has been gaining steady momentum for some time now. Thanks to the hyper connected networks ‘social entrepreneurship’ is now becoming more than ever real. And now Delhi too boasts of one such chapter. ‘Delhi Social Entrepreneurship Meetup Group’ is a forum that is connecting social entrepreneurs and allies, investors, and those curious about the sector to get together on a regular basis and share knowledge, resources, and access to support at a local level.
The group recently kicked off with an inaugural event on September 6th at the People’s Cafe in Hauz Khas Village.
The event, which had over 40 attendees, featured two local social entrepreneurs that used the event as a platform to get feedback about an idea, issue, or question they had regarding their own social enterprises. Subsequently, the group has met on two more occasions with a substantial increase in membership.
The group, started by Avani Parekh-Bhatt, an LGTVP fellow with Operation Asha in Delhi, is supported with technical assistance and space from ‘What’s Up Bharat’ in Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi and works through a committed team of planning committee members.
