MinRP: Another Option for the Cost Sensitve Online Consumer
One of the main reasons why ecommerce will work in India is because it addresses the needs of the generally cost sensitive Indian. People are willing to wait that extra day for a product at a lower price and ecommerce portals in India have bamked on this trait.
The choice is simple; if you’re looking for the best deal, then shop online. Only one problem though; online also has too many shops! And there is a significant price difference between these online shops. Price comparison sites such as MySmartPrice and ThisYaThat have endeavored to provide consumers with the cheapest price of articles online. MinRP is also one such portal.
MinRP
MinRP is a platform where online shoppers can find the least price of the article they wish to buy. With first impressions, it comes across as just
another price comparison website. Having said that, it’s got a very clean UI and the experience of using the platform is hassle free. Its differentiating factor however, is in how they choose to use this platform. In our conversation with the founder of MinRP, Naveen Prasad shared the business vision of MinRP.
A Strong Emphasis on Team
Naveen Prasad very recently completed his equivalent MBA course from S P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai and IESEG School of Management, France. Prior to this, he has worked for IT giants such as Huawei and Oracle. Along with the team of 3 engineers with distinguished engineering background, Naveen has built the MinRP platform.
“We have a very generic codebase and adding a new provider or a category or an item isn’t going to take us any time. I don’t think this would have been possible if not for team that is working on MinRP.
“The site is really easy to use and we have pulled out all stops to provide the best user experience for our users. We have already surpassed the established players like buyingIQ.com in terms of traffic” Said Naveen.
Targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities
Naveen said that his focus is on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. “Price is a more sensitive issue in these places and I feel we can definitely have a large user base from here. Also because our product is ready and scalable, I think it would be an instant hit in European markets, where the infrastructure of online shopping is a lot better and volume of sales is also a lot more. For our users from these cities, we have included contextual search functionality to cater for any kind of search. Our search feature also caters for spelling mistakes.”
With a solid business model, an ambitious aim of wanting to be “a one stop of all shopping needs” and a competent team, MinRP is scripted of good things in the future.
