The recent incident in Delhi has sparked nationwide dialogue on the all too prevalent mistreatment of women in India. Despite the unfortunate reality that it often takes such a severe act of violence for such conversation to emerge in the spotlight, the public outcry in the wake of the incident has not only taken form in protests and rallies, but also in individual efforts to make a difference. This was the case with Sakshi Kumar, who made her voice heard on Twitter by starting the hashtag Justice For Women. As the hashtag gained momentum on Twitter, Sakshi took her desire to make a change one step further, turning her newly mobilized following into a larger campaign for women rights.On top of the online platform that Sakshi created, Justice For Women works with martial arts trainers in different cities across India to train them in self defence to prepare them for dangerous situations. Sakshi and her team of four are constantly looking for new trainers and facilities to partner with for classes to provide women with the tools they might need to protect themselves if their safety is threatened. They also created a blog to educate women on their legal rights as well as news related to various women’s rights issues. Justice For Women classes.
