Mokriya helps Craigslist meet design; Launches the Licensed Craigslist App

Mokriya helps Craigslist meet design; Launches the Licensed Craigslist App

Friday February 22, 2013 , 2 min Read

Craigslist is one of the most popular online services in the world with more than 50 billion page views per month. It is a top online destination for job seekers, apartment hunters, the buying and selling of all types of goods and services and those seeking new personal connections. But whenever anyone talks about things that have worked with bad design, Craiglist always there right at the top.

Having been thrashed many times for design issues, Craigslist hasn't really cared because they had something that simply worked. There are many Craigslist apps on the app stores but they'd all give the real Craigslist competition in terms of bad design. There were few official apps but the latest one from Mokriya seems like the one we were waiting for.

Craigslist

Mokriya is a team of engineers distributed across USA, UK and India with headquarters in Cupertino, CA, USA. Having worked with some of the most popular consumer-facing companies like SideCar and Hipster, and for brands like Swarovski Crystal and SeaWorld, Mokriya has built itself a good reputation. And this new Mokriya Craiglist app does complete justice to the reputation.

Developed through an official license with Craigslist, it can be used across all 50 U.S. states and any of the 700 cities in 70 countries served by Craigslist. Co-founder Sunil Kanderi tells us about the philosophy that the company was started with: "We wanted craftsmen in the team that take pride in their craft whether it be design, engineering or product ideation."

Design Idelology Mokriya follows: People ignore design that ignores people (by Frank chimero).

"This is the fundamental premise on which we build our products. There are multiple styles of design that we are adept at but the one thread that weaves them all together is our focus on keeping it user-centric. We are driven by the desire to build and design apps that are stunningly beautiful and a joy to use," informs Sunil.

Craig Newmark, founder of Craigslist hasn't been gung ho about change but he has allowed Mokriya to do something which many people were asking for. And Mokriya hasn't disappointed.

Features in the app:

  • Touch-centric Interface
  • Create Craigslist listings with images
  • Find items near you
  • Worldwide availability
  • Automatic search alerts

Browsing and searching on Mokriya Craigslist is available for free on both the App Store and on Google Play. For a one-time $0.99 fee, users can upgrade to Mokriya Craigslist Premium to post listings, receive alerts and favorite items.
