Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, Novartis works to provide innovative pharmaceuticals, eye care products, generics, consumer health products, vaccines and diagnostic tools to the healthcare space. With over 120,000 associates in 140 countries worldwide, Novartis has repeatedly been commended by the media and industry leaders for its innovative approach to healthcare solutions. They were most recently recognized as the top pharmaceutical company in Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies 2013.

We recently spoke to Hans-Peter Frank, Global Development at Novartis, at the Health 2.0 India conference in Bangalore last month. During our interview, Hans-Peter explained his view on the role of technology in healthcare and how technology fits into the Novartis model of value addition. In India, he said, he hopes to find technology and service partners that can work with Novartis’s existing product portfolio and help them provide holistic value for their patients.

Speaking to the needs of healthcare in India, Hans-Peter noted, “If you look at india, most of the companies are just focusing on the tier one cities where healthcare is already well established. Focusing on tier 2 or 3 cities is where i think there is the biggest opportunity, but to make this happen you need a lot of innovation. This innovation could be totally different distribution models, totally different value offerings, or totally different ways of how you deliver healthcare to patients.”

Watch our exclusive YSTV interview with Hans-Peter Frank to learn more about Novartis initiatives and how Indian entrepreneurs can get involved.
