The digital classified market in India is growing at an exponential rate and is expected to touch Rs 7,000 crore by year 2015. Increasing internet penetration and a large youth population using the medium, makes it attractive for advertisers to market their wares. And through his new venture Tradetu, Sanjay Soni also believes he can bring new concepts to the online classified market. Tradetu is a free online
classifieds ad network, an ad marketplace where you can buy, sell, rent or search anything. In Sanjay’s words: “We are helping individual people including buyers and sellers, agents, brokers, dealers, businesses and brands to trade their products and services.” The startup also promises to give a service that is four times faster than any paid advertisement.The beginning
Tradetu was established in October, 2012 by Sanjay Soni, who holds a B.Tech. degree in IT from Jaipur. Before starting Tradetu he had worked for a couple of startups. Learnings from his experience and some friendly feedback spurred Sanjay to open his own ad network. Tradetu wants to be different from other services by enhancing their service to a level that it becomes trusted and more people can easily trade what they need. He is supported by five other team members including people in design, business development and marketing.
The road ahead
At present Tradetu offers services free of cost to gain more eye balls. However they have been fortunate enough to attract the interests from few angel investors and are now looking for first Series A investment.Tradetu is relying on a couple of platforms to spread the word. 30% of their overall traffic comes from social media. They also harness email marketing for mass marketing and online ad words. Tradetu on an average gets around 10,000 visitors every day mostly from cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. They boast of 3,000 active customers on the website and have launched a quality enhancement feature to engage more with customers. “Our feature listing dashboard on the landing page allows people to instantly get the best deals in their locality.” Sanjay believes this will help the customers grab the right option every time they visit the web app.
