vDeliver, a Startup Servicing eCommerce Startups

Few days back, logistics biggie DTDC launched their exclusive vertical to focus on eCommerce companies. But much before that, another startup – vDeliver has been doing the same thing. Co-founded by Ruby Singh, Abhinav Kumar, Aditya Kumar Batra and Rajat Kumar, vDeliver wants to provide cost-effective logistics service to eCommerce ventures and will be focused exclusively on eCommerce start-ups.

The founders have a diverse educational background and which helps them deal with different aspects of the startup. While Ruby has an MBA in HR, Abhinav is a Chartered Accountant, and Aditya and Rajat hail from IT background. Saying why they chose logistics to statup, Ruby says: “Logistics is a painful area very few people would like to put their hand into. While the scope is really good, what makes it difficult is the risk involved in starting and sustaining the venture.”

The company provides services like packaging, last mile deliver, Cash on delivery, cash before delivery and warehousing. The USP of the company lies in providing delivery within 24 hours and no cancellation charges. vDeliver’s clientele list includes Babyoye, Shopclues, Yebhi, Rajcomics, Fashionandyou, etc. Since starting in October 2012, the company has clocked more than 12,000 transactions per month to date. Based out of Delhi, the company has team strength of 35 people.

They started as a bootstrapped venture and today are very near to breaking even. vDeliver is looking for the right kind of angel funding to expand within India. Ruby shares her journey, “Initially, it was a difficult task to convince eCommerce companies. However, the mutual feeling of being startups helped developing trust and finally we bagged good clients in a short span of time.” As vDeliver is a B2B service provider, they didn’t have to spend much money on marketing and mostly rely on social media sites to spread the word. To add value to its customers, vDeliver plans to provide services like labelling and customer support to the companies in the future. Ruby understands that these services require good volume to sustain, but she envisions providing a complete end-to-end package to eCommerce ventures to widen the reach of vDeliver.
