Villgro has applications open for the 6th edition of its fellowship program till May 15.
Ashish Sinha had a double specialization in marketing and worked for close to a decade in the field of market research. Based out of Delhi, Ashish had worked with organizations (mainly imrb) and dealt with research in the areas of rural and preventive healthcare. Ashish gained a core expertise in the area but was on the look out for an opportunity to expand his horizons.
“Market research takes into account the whole spectrum of activities but lacks a bit on the very hands-on, on the field activities,” says Ashish. To gain this experience, Ashish landed upon the Villgro fellowship (2011 batch) and applied with a very focused requirement – experience in the last mile connectivity and activation strategies.
And Villgro had a perfect match for him- Villgro Stores.
Villgro Stores aims to be a leader in the rural distribution of innovative products and services by creating, developing and strengthening fluid supply chain networks, which provide access points that are readily available and have significant positive impact on Rural India’s livelihood.
After the inaugural sessions, Ashish was placed with Villgro Stores where he was helping with operations. Ashish started working in September 2011 when Villgro Stores had a 13 member team. Helping streamline processes, Ashish had a very fruitful one year stint at Villgro stores which now connects more than 100 villages.
“It was the perfect match for me at that point in time. The connections, knowledge sharing and the fellowship experience was truly outstanding,” says Ashish.
