Impact Economy Innovations Fund grants $113,333 USD to SocialStory

SocialStory (social.yourstory.in), a YourStory media property focused on covering the social entrepreneurship space has been adjudged as one of the winners of the Impact Economy Innovations Grant Fund (IEIF). IEIF was put out in January 2013 by Dasra, Omidyar Network and the Rockefeller foundation, who invited proposals from organizations interested in receiving support for initiatives aimed at fostering India’s Impact Economy. Prize money of $113,333 USD has been awarded to SocialStory for being an Information Platform for the Impact Investing Sector.

The judging panel included officials and executives from Omidyar Network, ICICI Foundation, Unitus Capital, Sri Dorabji Tata trust and the Rockefeller foundation. They sieved through over 120 high quality applications across many categories and narrowed down to six winners. Apart from SocialStory, Samhita Social Ventures ($100,000), Villgro Innovations Foundation ($179,000), Intellecap ($178,850) , UnLtd India ($103,817 ) and CIIE Initiatives Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad ($125,000) were the other winners for various initiatives undertaken by them in the social enterprise space.

On being chosen as one of the recipient for the IEIF grant, Shradha Sharma, Founder, YourStory Media Pvt. Ltd. said, “Its a great honour and validates the hard work that we have been putting for last 5 years in this space. It was not easy but we believed in our cause and commitment to make a difference; very humbled and motivated with the honour. We believe that the fundamentals of India's socio-economic fabric will continue to rapidly improve with "information inclusion", with SocialStory we just passionately continue to do that.”
