Aarohan Ventures, Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), under the framework of Indo-German bilateral cooperation funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), conducted the second workshop for Ecosystem Development and Capacity Building for Social Enterprises in India at KCT Business School, Coimbatore in partnership with Sakthi Group.
The workshop’s focus was to foster collaboration and unlock value by helping diverse organizations partner with the aim of creating social and economic development in India. Leading experts and practitioners such as Ashis Kumar Sahu from SELCO India, Prof. Ravi Sinha from CSI-BIMTECH, Manikandan KP from Ashoka Foundtion, Nagaraja Prakasam from Indian Angel Network and Srikrishna Sridhar Murthy from Sattva Consultants shared their best practices and learnings during the three day workshop.
Participants learnt about nuances of social entrepreneurship, approaches to community based development and were sensitized to the needs of social enterprises. 35 organisations participated in the workshop among them being pioneering organisations such as Cognizant Technology Services, Biocon Foundation, Kudumbshree, Gandhigram Trust and innovative social enterprises such as Cosmos Green, Greenway Grameen, Logistimo and Karabi Software among others.
Stefanie Bauer from GIZ said, “This workshop is an important milestone on our journey towards a supportive eco-system for start-ups and a network of support institutions that can strengthen social enterprises across the country. Collaboration between incubators, NGOs, and the corporate sector is needed to bring about innovation that can create change.”
