The EduStars finale conference is scheduled for 6th December, at GINSERV, Bangalore. Keynote 1: Sachin Kelkar, Head – APAC Scale Programs, Intel

The proliferation of technology and enhancements in communication has opened a plethora of opportunities for education startups. Sachin will throw light on the latest technological trends in the education space and will share insights on how startups can leverage technology to become true game-changers.

Sachin heads Scale Software Programs for Asia Pacific as part of the Intel Software and Services Group – Developer Relations Division. He focuses on developing the software solutions market across Asia Pacific by working with key software companies and software developers.


Keynote 2: Anand Daniel, Principal, Accel Partners

We hear much about the buzz around education startups but how many of them are really seeing traction and are able to monetize their offerings? What really is the market opportunity? And most importantly, where is the money? Anand will share an in-depth perspective on investments in the education space.As a VC, Anand focuses on investments in healthcare, education and information technology. He has been very closely involved in the evaluation of EduStars applications and has been writing extensively on education investments in India.


Panel Discussion: Getting to scale in education

How should a startup establish its presence in the lucrative education market? What are the real pain points? How to target customers and achieve scale? This panel, moderated by Anand Daniel, will provide real world insights from people who have really made it big in the education space and provide the audience an opportunity for extensive Q&A.


Panelist 1: Capt. Unni Gopala Krishnan, Founder & Managing Trustee, Primus Public School

There is much action on the K12 front – ERPs for schools, interactive learning platforms, multimedia learning tools – but how are schools reacting? Capt. Unni will talk about the on-ground situation as an educationist who needs to make key decisions on pedagogy and curriculum management, while balancing challenges of budgets, comfort of teachers with technology and the unending demands of parents.

Capt. Unni has over 15 years of expertise in the field of education. He was instrumental in conceiving and setting up the Indus International School in 2003. He then set up Primus Public School to integrate international education with the Indian education system, impart Indian values and most importantly, keep it affordable.


Panelist 2: Dr. G. Sridhar, Founder & Managing Director, Ace Creative Learning

Test preparation stands out as the one area, which is clearly seeing huge traction and monetization. But it’s also a very crowded space with a significant long tail of companies that are struggling to make it. What does it take to crack the test prep market and build a reputed company? Dr. Sridhar will share his personal experiences in setting up Ace Learning from ground up.

Dr. Sridhar established Ace as a pioneer in integrated teaching and coaching in Karnataka with an objective of providing holistic education under one roof through Deeksha Network of Colleges. The company has been able to draw two rounds of investments from some of the top VC’s in the country like Catamaran, Accel Partners and Kaizen Private Equity.


Panelist 3: Madan Padaki, Co-founder & CEO, Head Held High Services

While corporate learning is often handled in-house, most companies rely on external providers for assessments. Madan will talk about how he made MeritTrac India’s largest player in this space. He will also share insights on opportunities in the rural education space.

Madan co-founded as Head Held High as a Foundation in 2008 with the vision of eradicating rural poverty through education. He started his entrepreneurial journey in 2000, by co-founding MeritTrac – India’s largest Skills Assessment company, which was acquired by Manipal Global Education Services.


Panelist 4: Sumit Sahni, Head – Solution Design & Delivery (South Asia & Middle East), Harvard Business Publishing
