Meet the astro-architect who advises the Bachchans and Ambanis

Meet the astro-architect who advises the Bachchans and Ambanis

Thursday October 02, 2014 , 5 min Read

Neeta Sinha started out as a sceptic. More than two decades ago, Sinha met the Late Dr LN Kusuma, a student of renowned homoeopath and Vedic astrology expert KS Krishnamurthy. The accuracy with which Dr Kusuma predicted Sinha’s life helped erupt a deep desire in her to study Vedic astrology.

After researching 30,000 homes and other spaces together to better understand the effects of the laws of Vaastu, they pondered over a crucial question that would eventually begin Sinha’s lucrative career: ‘Why is it that in a high rise building, where the Vaastu of all the houses are the same, different individuals get different results?

Sinha concluded that there must be a horoscope for spaces that determines how they effect human life.

Likely the first to take up this occult as a profession, Sinha calls herself an astro-architect. A combination of astrology and architecture that helps in creating a harmonious balance of energy, it involves creating horoscopes of a given space in order to identify its energy landscape over a spectrum of positive to negative. There are no rules as you’d normally see in Feng Shui or Vaastu, but a personalised form of astrology that depends on the requirements of each individual living in that space.

Sinha says, ‘To sum up, Astro-Architecture is actually based on the relation between the man and the cosmos.’

‘Every House has a Horoscope’

Explaining further, Sinha says, ‘Every place has 3 negative sectors and 9 positive sectors. I first study the architectural maps and plans of a house, and then work to enhance the positive sectors, and diminish the negative ones.’

Her clients come from diverse walks of life. But, it’s the big names that stand out the most. Over the course of 25 years, Sinha’s career has allowed her to interact with Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Shahrukh Khan, the Ambanis, Birlas, various luxurious hotels and education houses.

The irony of my life is that since I am associated with these big names, people generally believe that I work only for the rich and famous. The truth is that I am pretty much approachable for the common people too,’ adds Sinha.

The biggest hindrance for anyone who wants to be taken seriously in this profession is how all our brain detectors go into full alarm the minute someone mentions religious cosmology or astrology. For most part, they aren’t accepted as hard science with observable phenomena that can be quantified. There lies the biggest hurdle, but Sinha doesn’t feel the scepticism affects her performance or success. She says, ‘This science of placement plays an important role in creating positive energy which leads to prosperity and betterment of mankind. As an Astro-Architect, I co-relate the personal energy of an individual (commonly known as ‘aura’) to the universal energy field. My calculations are based on the movement of planetary positions and personal energy. I call it a divine science as it also includes predictions which are based on my calculations.’

The burden of practising a science that is so personalised is the inability to take on too many projects. Sinha says, ‘So far, I am the only one in this country who practices astro-architecture. The challenge, which I feel is that I cannot work for more than 24 hours. Also, nobody can share my work load as it is a very personalized science. However, my daughter Ms Anshu Popli is now taking the legacy forward.’

Looking back at all those 25 years, there are moments in Sinha’s career that outshine others. Nearly 15 years ago, renowned choreographer Shaimak Davar introduced Sinha to a woman from a rich jeweller family in Delhi. Suffering from an acute form of leukemia, her only option was to get a bone marrow transplant, a rare treatment in those days. After many unsuccessful attempts, she was given 6 months to live. At this point, Sinha was consulted. Sinha says, ‘When I met her, she was in very bad state and I still cannot forget the desperate expectant look in her eyes. She had two kids and she obviously wanted to live. I studied her house and diagnosed that there was a major problem in the health corner of the house. I immediately did some corrective measures to balance the health corner. The first good news came within 15 days of it. She had found a healthy bone marrow match and after a few days I got to know that her transplant was carried out successfully. Now she had got a minimum lease of 15 years of life.’

Sinha feels astro-architecture played an important part in opening up the woman’s future, adding 15 more years to it. She feels she can bring significant positive change in peoples’ lives through astro-architecture, and that fills her with a lot of optimism and humility.

As parting advice, Sinha adds, ‘Anyone who is planning to buy a residential/commercial place, can show me their floor / plot plan to get better results. The house is on whose name, or the name of the house (in case of bungalows/individual houses), makes a lot of impact. My science is very effective. I do not suggest any structural changes and there isn’t any negative impact of this, only positive. I am always happy to help.’
