Manoj Bhargava is a rich Indian American businessman who claims he has more money than he needs, and has pledged to use up to 99% of his 4 billion dollar net worth on projects that will benefit mankind. His aim in life is to solve the problem of energy the world faces today.
He and his team of innovators have built a stationary bike to power homes which face electricity crisis. The cycle, which he has developed can be used to exercise as well as power homes. An hour of workout on his cycle produces enough electricity to power a home for 24 hours. According to PTI, he plans to distribute 10,000 of these bikes to India in a bid to provide electricity to millions of homes.
As reported by National Geographic, Manoj left India when he was just 14 and settled in the USA with his parents. He dropped out of Princeton University after a year because he was bored and lived in ashrams in India for 12 years. He went on to become a multi billionaire, as he built companies, including Living Essentials, maker of the popular two-ounce caffeine shot that’s sold at checkout counters in the USA. It is also unknown exactly how much money he has.
A believer of simple fixes for big problems, he and his team of scientists are not planning to stop anytime soon. They are currently working on ways to make saltwater drinkable, enhance blood circulation in the body, and secure limitless amounts of clean geothermal energy. To address drought, they are also building a mechanism to convert any kind of water into drinkable water, at the rate of 1,000 gallons an hour.
