Uber opens Center of Excellence in Hyderabad

Friday February 26, 2016 , 2 min Read

Taxi aggregator Uber has opened its Center of Excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad which will house over 500 customer care executives. The first-of-its-kind facility in Asia is part of an agreement the company signed with the Telangana government in July 2015 to invest USD 50 million in the state, Uber said in a statement.

The CoE, which was inaugurated by state IT Minister K T Rama Rao, is expected to generate 500 jobs by the end of 2017. "This modern Center will house a team of over 500 customer service specialists, who will provide 24/7 assistance to both riders and driver partners. Uber has already hired close to 30 per cent of the total team strength and has started support operations from the CoE," it said.

The CoE will provide support via multiple channels - email, phone and social media - to ensure seamless experience before, during and after the ride, it said. The team of specialists will also be proficient in multiple regional languages to address support issues from across the country, Uber added. "Uber's investment in Hyderabad to set up its first Center of Excellence in Asia confirms Telangana as the location of choice for leading innovative companies," K T Rama Rao said.

"We're delighted that the world's most valued technology company has invested in Hyderabad and will generate over 500 jobs, which will have a positive impact on the state and the economy as a whole," he added. Uber India President Amit Jain said, "The government of Telangana has shown great vision in supporting innovative technology companies and continues to remain an ideal location to do business."
