According to the company, 1¬Tap Cab Booking will work even in places without a stable internet connection such as airports, railway station and bus stations. It is currently available for Android version only.

Commenting on the launch, Rajnish Kumar, ixigo Co-founder and CTO says, “Opening multiple cab apps to compare ETAs and pricing, and then booking a cab consumes time, especially when you are at a place with weak internet & GPS signals. With 1-Tab Cab Bookings, we allow users to book their nearest cab in just three seconds by tapping and holding a button on their home screen.”

He adds that the best part is that this feature works even without internet and GPS.

The company explains that it uses a combination of intelligence about the user’s location through existing PNR confirmations on a user’s phone and SMSes when the internet connection doesn’t work to seamlessly book a cab for the user. The app also intelligently prompts the users prior to their journey to the station or airport and also when they have just landed or are about to reach their destination.

Since its launch, ixigo Cabs has become the largest meta-aggregator of cabs, autos and ground transportation services, allowing users to search & book from multiple app-based cab providers such as Ola, TaxiForSure, EasyCabs, and Jugnoo directly from within its own app.

In August 2015, ixigo acquired Rutogo, an intercity cab aggregator for an undisclosed amount. While the ixigo Cabs app was limited specifically for intracity travel, with the acquisition of Rutogo, it expanded deeper into the cab and intercity travel market.

In November, the travel search marketplace launched a new meta-search across curated budget hotels on its website. Last year the platform also acquired all intellectual property of The Indian Backpacker, a community for budget travelers and backpackers, for an undisclosed amount.

Launched in 2007 in Gurgaon by Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar, ixigo is a travel search marketplace, which claims to connect over 80 million travellers with content and deals from over 25,000 online and offline travel and hospitality businesses. ixigo’s investors include SAIFPartners, MakeMyTrip and Micromax.
