It was time for rubber to meet the road as a fleet of Ducati motorcycles lined up for a cause at Mission Road on Sunday, October 2. The sound of 40 engines revving up marked the launch of the 3rd Annual Self V - Survivor Stories.

The 200 km ride to Belur Cross was initiated by HCG – The Specialist in Cancer Care, along with Pink Hope – The Cancer Patient Support Group, and Ducati Owners Club, to support the fight against cancer, and give hope to those who are currently battling the disease.

Launched in 2014, Self V Survivor Stories is a unique platform, which celebrates the indomitable spirit of cancer survivors. To participate, survivors need to take a 60-second self-video that captures their inspiring story of hope and victory against cancer and upload it on facebook.com/hcghospitals or on www.selfv.in.

These stories will help break the stigma attached to the disease and encourage those undergoing treatment to have hope.

Cancer Survivor Amar Bhaskar said,” It’s a day of hope and triumph for all the survivors. Fighting cancer is a battle and one needs to be positive. I thrived after my problems and today I’m a winner. Awareness is the key, because when more survivors speak about the disease, it instills confidence in thousands of cancer patients that there is a life after this disease and that it can be managed.”

Shubankar Nayak, President - Ducati Owners Club, Bangalore said, “We are united in the fight against cancer and proud to be associated with the Self V – Survivor Stories Campaign this year, which not only showcases stories of real heroes but provides a ray of hope that cancer can be conquered.”

The videos will be judged by an external jury and the best ones will be selected for the grand finale of Self V 2016.

The contest will run till the end of November and the best Self V videos will not only make it to the grand finale, but also stand a chance to win prizes ranging from a Ducati Scrambler Bike, international and national holidays, an LED TV, designer clothes, and smartphones.

Cancer Survivor Vandana Ramnane said, “It is important to celebrate the spirit of survivors because we need to spread awareness about the disease and that it is curable. Thus, this is a perfect opportunity for all survivors to not only celebrate with their loved ones, but also to share their stories of hope with others and give them strength.”
