This wooden watch startup plants ten trees for every product customers buy
Carbon emission is definitely an issue to be concerned about these days, and the factors contributing to it have only increased over time. However, very little is being done to control it. Since the Industrial Revolution, human activities have contributed extensively to the increase in carbon emissions. According to What's Your Impact, they have now reached dangerous levels, levels that have not been seen in the last three million years. Though the human contribution is still less than that of nature, it is still enough to disturb the natural balance that existed before human intervention.
As per Wow Science, the average carbon emission per person in the United States is about 20 metric tons. The numbers are indeed disturbing. Like a silver lining among dark clouds, there is a small company called TruWood that believes that nature should not only be respected, but also understood. Based in the United States, the company's mission is to provide as much value to the world as possible.
TruWood began its journey in May, 2016, and sells homemade sustainable products like watches and fashion accessories. The emphasis while manufacturing their product is on its quality and sustainability. Along with their business, they got into a partnership with NGO 'Trees for the Future', with an aim of planting ten trees for every sale that they make.
TruWood has a simple yet beautiful motto: Give back more than you receive. Till now, they have contributed in planting of over 75,000 trees, and their journey has just begun.
While so many companies out there are just chasing bigger and bigger profits, even if they come at a cost to the environment, it is refreshing to see a company trying to make a difference. At the end of the day, all these small efforts cobbled together will result in the big difference that we seek.
