Akshay Kumar launches 'BharatKeVeere' to financially help the families of martyrs

Akshay Kumar launches 'BharatKeVeere' to financially help the families of martyrs

Tuesday April 11, 2017 , 3 min Read

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar took to Twitter in January suggesting that the country come together to help the families of the martyrs from the national defence and armed forces financially, irrespective of the compensations the government takes care of. He said that he strongly believes that it is not just the government's responsibility to stand up for the welfare of the brave soldiers and their families, but that every citizen is accountable for it too. He spoke about a platform where citizens could be connected to the family members of martyrs through an app or website, where they could make financial transfers to a verified account of one of the family members.

This dream of his came true recently when he launched the app and the website 'BharatKeVeer' along with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The main objective of this platform is to help the people of the country reach out to the families of martyrs and slain soldiers financially.

At the inauguration ceremony, the actor told Hindustan Times,

This website has been made in exactly two and a half months. About three months ago, this idea came in my mind, while watching a documentary film on terrorists, which showed how terror leaders financially support the families of the terrorists who carry out terror acts. Everybody wants to connect to people in uniform in their pain. It was a small dream and to fulfil this dream, our government really helped us. I want to thank everybody with my folded hands. My father was in the Army, and I am here as his son. Thank you everyone.

According to a report by Scroll, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said,

It has been our constant effort to ensure that a family of a martyr who is killed in action does not get a compensation amount less than a crore. I have said that I am even ready to spread my hands and seek funds from my countrymen in this regard.

This excellent initiative is being lauded by everyone across the country, and the actor thanked the government for supporting him in this regard. This portal is a completely IT-based platform, and it has an account named 'Next of Kin’ that corresponds to the families of the Central Armed Police Force and Central Para Military Force soldiers.
