For 41-year-old Anamika Majumdar, a social worker from Jamshedpur, winning a crore was, until not too long ago, not much more than a daydream. However, today, with an updated account and the tag of the first crorepati of the ninth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, she has made it big.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, she said,

After winning the show, Mr Bachchan told me that I must use this huge amount wisely and not take any hasty decision. I want to wait for this excitement to subside and then take the right step.

Anamika, who is married with two children and runs an NGO called Faith in India, will spend the entire amount on the development of rural areas of Jharkhand, said the official KBC website. After winning Rs 1 crore, she decided to quit the game as she couldn’t answer the jackpot question, which was worth Rs 7 crore. In an interview with Daily Bhaskar, she said,

I always wanted to become like Mother Teresa; I never wanted to get married. But, my mother insisted that I marry and I couldn’t refuse. Post marriage, I couldn’t take up much social work as I was tied up with a lot of family responsibilities. However, in 2010, I started working towards my dream of becoming a social worker. And now, there’s no looking back.

Hosted by Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, the season has had a great start with high TRP ratings. Apart from engaging the audience on current affairs and general knowledge, the season is actively celebrating social workers and organisations in its special Friday episodes.

In a report by The Indian Express, a source close to Anamika said,

Anamika is a very practical and reasonable kind of person who took each question very seriously. When she reached the crore mark, even with no lifeline left, she reasoned all the options before choosing the right answer. Even Big B was surprised by her confidence and risk-taking attitude.
