PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In this photo essay, we feature some of the inspiring works of artists at the Samsara environment and sustainability festival in Bengaluru.
In the earlier 150 posts, we brought you a wide range of creative photographs from an art fair, world music festival, painting fair, telecom expo, art museum, mobile showcase, business cards, art therapy, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, Vesak, jazz festival, modern art gallery, ecopreneurs, painter-poets, health activists, eNGOs and digital innovators.
The RoundGlass Samsara Art Exhibition 2017 kicked off this week in UB City and Sublime Galleria. The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the ongoing threats to the environment by showcasing the natural world in all its beauty, along with commentary on the effects of global warming.
The festival is conceptualised and organised by Grammy Award Winner Ricky Kej, who is also a conservationist. The weeklong art exhibition features 150 installations from 14 artists including Satish Bhaisare, Gopinath Subbanna, Pooja Gupta, Kazi Nasir, Milind Nayak, Srikala Gangi Reddy, Umeed Mistry, Tasneem Khan, and Bhushan Bagadia.
“All artists have an obligation to use their work to make this world a better place,” according to Ricky. The festival aims to encourage high level, inter-disciplinary dialogue across communities of artists, scientists, industry and policymakers.
In the first part of our photo-essay on the festival, we feature some of the photography, painting, sculpture, and mixed-media installations on display. Now what can we all do together to create a more sustainable city and nation?
