A few years ago, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its vocabulary were limited to engineers, data scientists, and technology enthusiasts. Not anymore.
Once considered futuristic (think self-driving cars), today AI is being applied across businesses for a variety of reasons. From increasing in-store footfalls to improving customer service using chatbots, and helping farmers get the best price for their produce, AI is dramatically changing how people are doing business. No longer limited to high-end engineering tasks in advanced tech organisations, AI is now becoming a must-have tool for engineers and architects even in emerging young startups.
But, as a startup, how do you make the most of AI for your business?
Helping you with the answer to this question is Amazon, a leading AI expert, at the Amazon AI Conclave to be held in Bengaluru on December 14 and 15.
For over 20 years, Amazon has been investing deeply in Artificial Intelligence. Today, Machine learning (ML) algorithms drive many of their internal systems. It's also core to the capabilities their customers experience – from the path optimisation in their fulfilment centres, and Amazon.com’s recommendations engine, to Echo powered by Alexa, their drone initiative Prime Air, and even their new retail experience Amazon Go.
The e-commerce giant is now on a bigger mission to share their learnings and ML capabilities as fully managed services, and put them into the hands of every developer and data scientist. The Amazon AI Conclave is a step in that direction.
1: You get to be at the heart of the happening AI scene and get all the insights
The Conclave is bringing together key contributors from the AI ecosystem, showcasing leading work in the field and driving broader awareness and adoption of AI. This year, the event will have both business and technical sessions, awards, demos, showcases and enterprise and investor connection sessions. The showcase zone will enable you to see how companies like Haptik, IRA.ai, Qure.ai, Vernacular.ai and Tessact are powering cutting-edge technologies in AI.
2: The two-day conclave has a distinctive agenda to meet the needs of enterprise and startup CXOs as well as developers, data scientists and architects
Day 1 of the conference has been designed for enterprise and startup CXOs. A keynote address by Charles Elkan, Amazon Fellow and Director of the Amazon AI Lab, who will also share a larger perspective on AI at Amazon, will be followed by a session on AI at AWS by Ranju Das, Director, Software Development, Amazon Rekognition and Vikram Anbazhagan, Senior Product Manager, AWS Deep Learning. Adam Berns, Director, Business Development, Alexa Voice Service, will provide an overview of Alexa. AI case study overviews, the AI awards and networking make up the rest of the day’s events.
Day 2 has three different tracks hosted by product leads from Amazon and the people who are working on the next big AI advancements. The AI Developer Track will delve deep into topics such as how to power your apps with computer vision, and with understanding of natural languages, how to build intelligent chatbots, and how to give voice to your devices, among others. The AI engineer and scientists track will teach you specifics such as building pipelines for model training and inference, deep learning at scale, and running deep learning models on edge devices. The AI Pipelines and AI for Business track will showcase customer case studies as well as sessions on powering AI in the cloud and at the edge.
3: The Amazon AI Awards 2017
The Amazon AI Awards are an initiative from Amazon India in partnership with Intel. The Awards, being held for the first time, recognise the best and most innovative work in AI and deployment of business solutions across education, healthcare, retail and e-commerce, media and entertainment, financial services, consumer engagement, Indian language solutions, enterprise, analytics, and AI tools. There are also two award categories for solutions that leverage the Alexa Skills Kit and Alexa Voice Services.
If you are a company that offers B2C and B2B solutions using AI, while also leveraging one or more AI-based solutions, from Amazon Web Services (AWS) you can apply for the awards. Companies in the process of beginning an engagement with AWS for a related service by December 5, 2017 are also eligible to apply.
The shortlisted companies will be announced on December 11 and will get to present before a jury on December 14. If you win, you can win Amzon devices, AWS credit amount basis eligibility, third party startup offers, get technical advisory from AWS experts, introductions to companies that are your target audience, and mentoring sessions from industry experts.
