The academy's courses will be designed for individuals who possess little or zero prior experience in blockchain, and for those who wish to train themselves to consequently transition from other careers. It also aims to prepare students comprehensively to explore potential application domains, introduce them to basic principles and operations, and experimenting with smart contracts and D-Apps (Decentralised Applications).

The academy also plans to provide material from BEN’s world-class training courses and employ real-life, practical simulations and team exercises.

The academy could potentially be a platform for blockchain developers to explore opportunities in the industry, opening up the possibility of becoming a blockchain solution provider to a wide array of businesses.

Michael Gord, Founder and CEO of MLG Blockchain Consulting launched the website of Kerala Blockchain Academy at IIITM-K campus recently. According to a report by The Hindu, Michael is also an advisory board member of BEN. An advisory board comprising global leaders headed by Madhavan Nambiar, a retired civil servant, is being formed to guide the academy, and several globally recognised leaders in blockchain technology have expressed willingness to join the advisory and mentor groups at the academy.

Saji Gopinath, Director of IIITM-K, in an interview with The News Minute said,

"Setting up the academy will be definitely a leap forward in Kerala's efforts in becoming a national leader in the education, adoption and entrepreneurship promotional activities in the new-age technological domains."
