For 17-year-old Durbha Adithya of National Public School (NPS) in Bengaluru, life changed after the COMEDK results were announced on Sunday. He has bagged 42 out of the 100 ranks at the undergraduate engineering exams conducted by the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK). With a score of 168 out of 180, Adithya has topped the exams, and is now flooded with options.
Speaking to The Indian Express, he says,
I worked really hard, and had started preparing from the start of 12th grade in my school. I used to study every day for three hours, and when the exams came closer, it was eight hours a day. I would like to take up electrical or mechanical engineering, and then do artificial intelligence (AI).
Durbha Adithya also says that the results were unexpected. Although he knew that he performed well, becoming a topper is something he did not expect. Speaking to the Hindu, S Kumar, executive secretary of COMEDK, said the performance of students from Karnataka was good this year. Considering that not even 10 percent students could make it to the top 100 ranks in the first examination, the students have come a long way.
Unmesh Roy from Jharkhand bagged the second rank, and TVD Adithya from East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, secured the third position. The other two rank holdres from the state, Nikhil S Pai, and Pratik Sanjay Bhirud were equally excited scoring fifth and sixth rank.
The exam results are up on the COMEDK official website, and can be checked by using the student's 'applicant login ID'. The counselling dates are yet to be announced.
