Aalankritha Art Gallery in Hyderabad has showcased the works of dozens of artists over the years, and promotes art online as well.

PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In the earlier 200 posts, we featured an art festival, cartoon gallery. world music festivaltelecom expomillets fair, climate change expo, wildlife conference, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, and jazz festival.

Aalankritha Art Gallery was founded in 2003 as a space for artists, art aficionados and students in Hyderabad. Gallery founder and curator Prashanti Goel is a self-taught artist, who decided to follow her passion for art after she finished her MBA. Her husband Nitin Goel is a software engineer, and helped with the website design and online sales of art works.

The aptly-named gallery (‘decorated’ or ‘ornate’) hosts up to two shows a month and a number of workshops as well, especially in the summer months, when they are held twice a week. Works are also commissioned for corporate offices and homes. The gallery is spread across three storeys of the building, each with a different layout and experience.

All art works are accompanied with an authenticity certificate signed by the artist. Featured artists come from across India, such as Sarbani Ganguly, Ahobhilam Prabhaker, Ajay Deshpande, Anand Panchal, Anjani Reddy, Avijit Roy, Bharat Das, Bhawana Choudhary, Chippa Sudhakar, Dattatraya Thombare, Deepa Vedpathak, Devendra Achari, Dhiren Sasmal, DLN Reddy and Gautam Mukherjii.

Founder-curator Prashanti Goel joins us for an interview in Part II of this photo essay next. Now what have you done today to follow your creative passion and find a space for art?
