YourStory brings you a list of promising startups we discovered through the week.

Bengaluru-based startup Kalpnik brings all your favourite Gods to your living room by capturing live pujas and blessings on a virtual reality platform called VR Devotee. What’s interesting is that it has close to 150 temples signed up, has already raised $500,000 from angel investors. Founded by Apul Nahata, John Kuruvilla and Ashwani Garg, VR Devotee works on a model where consumers are charged money, while the temples would not be.

Sedentary lifestyles with little or no exercise, exposure to digital screens, stress, and an unhealthy diet have increased the incidence of ailments like eye fatigue, indigestion, and diabetes. Increasingly, a large number of people are seeking new age natural solutions. Setu is a homegrown brand that provides single- and multi-ingredient natural solutions for protection, and healing purposes.

When it comes to seeking medical attention, it comes as no surprise that most patients insist on only seeing a senior doctor. For a junior doctor, it spells a Catch 22 situation as practice makes perfect but patients refuse to allow them the practice. Mimyk, a medical-tech startup incubated at the SID-IISc in Malleswaram, Bengaluru has created simulations for surgeries to help doctors understand how a procedure is done without having to perform it on actual patients. The company combines haptics, design, and virtual reality to build advanced simulation platforms.

A trip to the beauty salon can easily set you back by a few thousand rupees. While looking and feeling good come at a price, there is no transparency when it comes to this particular price. With this in mind, Noida-based online beauty services aggregator provides affordable and transparent beauty services at home, starting at Rs 6 per minute. Yes Madam reportedly has around 40,000 registered users, which shows the platform gets 4,500+ orders per month with a 70 percent repeat rate, and an average ticket size of Rs 1,050. Currently, Yes Madam’s app on Google Playstore has a 4.6 rating.

Started in 2009 by Sakthi and Radhakrishnan, this Chennai-based startup aims to surprise people in different ways, that are far from clichéd. These include out-of-the-box surprises like recreating a scene from your favourite movie, glitter showers, taking you high up in the air, or deep down underwater, expressing love with a thousand different posters and so much more, that one is really spoilt for choice.
