Paytm Money unveils Mutual Fund app; Amazon India is now in Hindi

Paytm Money on Wednesday announced the launch of its dedicated Mutual Fund investments app on Android and iOS. Paytm Money, a wholly-owned subsidiary of One97 Communications Limited, is a direct mutual funds investment platform which has tied up with close to 25 AMCs (Asset Management Companies). The company has also tied up with rating services MorningStar, CRISIL, and Value Research to ease investment decisions for its users.

Amazon India is breaking the language barrier for its customers residing in the hinterlands. The ecommerce major on Tuesday launched its website and app in Hindi to facilitate easy browsing for its customers while they search for products. The move will help Amazon further deepen the competitive moat against its homegrown rival, Flipkart, in its attempt to tap semi-urban and rural customers.

The Karnataka Government has announced that it would grant Rs 50 lakh to startups that have a strong social focus and are working for rural development in the state. Announcing the grant at the Shell Energy Entrepreneurship Conference 2018, State Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge expressed his willingness to adopt a startup currently being incubated in Shell E4 for piloting as part of his department’s efforts related to manual scavenging.

Global on-demand software provider Ebix Inc on Tuesday announced that it has signed the agreement to acquire Mumbai-based Miles Software for an amount of approximately $19 million as one of its Indian subsidiaries, with an additional contingent earnout of up to $8.5 million payable after two years.


Manish Gupta, Ashish Gupta and Vishnu Raned, ex-colleagues at Xerox Labs, started VideoKen to make videos data rich and consumable. The platform uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to automatically index videos, create table-of-contents and phrase cloud, which summarises key topics in a video. It also provides insights on which topics within a video received more views, and where the viewers stopped watching the video.
